Yeah so my new HN account is getting downvoted for asking why it would be better for a simple cross-platform GUI app to be written in Rust instead of Node/Electron/etc. Nobody can tell me that it's even worth investing a mere second into that site.

Very roughly this time tomorrow, we're doing a little fireside chat style Q&A thing in Chatto HQ to talk about how things are going, where the project is headed, and what's coming in the next release. Chatto HQ: chat.chatto.run

It's very funny to me that engineering culture is now cleanly split into "use Codeberg" and "don't use Codeberg" and each side is 100% convinced that the other will be irrelevant a year from now. Very healthy and good!

From a (fun and appreciated!) thread of comment summaries on the Chatto availability announcement. "isolated island for private groups" is exactly what I'm going for! (But the groups can be company-sized or even much larger :b) Not everything needs to be a social network, platform, or protocol.
