because even if we follow these rules. we still have fascism in this world in multiple places and their stories refuse to say that facism is bad, its just vaguely grimdark cool and should be respected in their eyes, piltover is cool noxus is cool etc

imho the 'no bigotry' thing is an excuse they use to cover their own ass and keep alt-right gamers happy. they can use it to shoot down any pitches of a story where poc go against a white evil for explicit racial reasons, or deny the existence of a story arc for a trans character (like taliyah)

it just makes invisible the sort of stories that touch on struggles of our world. ppl claiming piltover isnt ableist when in s1 viktor brings up a real life slur......???? we know they dont account for wheelchairs in the buildings?? it doesnt make sense

to me what their bullshit excuses end up doing is creating this expectation that you aren't supposed to point out marginalization in the story bc they want you to believe the empires are cool and the colonizers are heroes and you should aspire to be them and only vaguely empathize w the marginals

slavery is canon to runeterra we have COLONIZING EMPIRES travelling to foreign countries and setting fire to their villages then taking back prisoners to throw them in gladiator rings dont make me laugh riot you are ridiculous. its a feudal system. royal families are expected to produce heirs

and live years and years in symbiosis. jayvik are more similar than they are opposites attract they are parts of the same soul viktor has a very visible status of marginalization while jayce's is implied throughout the show to be something he is always judged for, his mental capacity, his breeding

we have so many other piltover characters in the show that are better fits for the whole "representative of what the peak of the city looks like" people fall for the trap of exaggerating jayviks differences to the extreme when their whole thing is how they find a common ground immediately

but ppl are racist to latinos all the time. the dumb idiot incapable jayce stuff and treating him as white-lite with no culture coming from parts of the arc fandom is racial stereotyping ppl see latam as a savage place that needs to corrected. and theres all the autism in him i havent mentioned

he is under a lot of academic/political pressure to not fuck up and not show weakness. but also in IRL aus, ones that kinda take place in our world with piltover as a new city, i really dont see his race playing a part in his anxieties around career and mistreatment he gets from others

we have all of this in the show itself jayce is trying really hard to build his own life and maybe find upward mobility for his family before it completely falls apart, and viktor is the first person to believe he is capable of doing this the way he envisioned it. jayce has "a bad name"

the only picture we have of jayce and his very white looking dad shows jayce being so awkward its almost like hes grimacing at the camera, we know he doesnt want to work on his dads business, he argues with his mom and she calls him mentally unfit in front of all the ruling lords of piltover likeee

like nilah's home country similarly underdeveloped. they took 10 years to make viego and the shadow isles make sense so same thing here

oh lmao, ixtal is notoriously underdeveloped and missing huge huge parts of its connective issue bc it was introduced late and riot didnt really employ enough latinos to write a complete thing for it. there are other parts of runeterra not contained in that map we see obscured by the fog of war

we have indigenous populations in our world that are off limits to be contacted by modern peoples for preservation efforts, its basically trying to do that through arcane wackadoo in a world thats large enough and mysterious enough they can remain unseen

immigrants are explained by the fact that the ixtali tend to banish people for failing their trials sometimes, or for using magic "wrong" (see millio's lore for this) and also its been 200 years magic bs happens, but its league of legends, the lore is not realistic
