I wouldn’t yet credit the reports that say Trump is w/drawing Blanche nomination. Equally likely is it’s a brinkmanship gambit to make a deal without giving up the settlement agreement, which he dearly wants. & his nastiness about it is just his one trick pony style. As predicted, Todd, Blanche‘s vote in judiciary is put over a week pending further discussions between especially Cornyn and White House/DOJ on a more formal pronunciation of th slush fund/tax amnesty. No one seems yet to have considered that there are court rulings in the mix.

Blanche-Cornyn meeting off as no apparent progress on shutting down fund and tax amnesty in way that Cornyn accepts. They can put vote over a week, so that's not so telling. But now Corwyn is upping the ante; says he's concerned about GJ going after Cassidy Hutchinson & "where does it stop?”

The Senate has just confirmed Jay Clayton to be the director of national intelligence notw/stg his inability/refusal to say who won the 2020 election. What could be a more tangible indication of his dedication to Trump even over the truth? Repeat: this is for the director of National Intelligence .

But on the other, they're exhorting the Court that it has to vacate because otherwise the administration will suffer irreparable injury because there won't be time before the election for them to implement the order -- basically the very reason the district court used to hold the issue was ripe.

The administration is talking out of both sides of its mouth in the emergency application to Supreme Court to vacate injunction on Trump mail-in voting executive order. On the one hand, their lead argument is that challenge to the order is not ripe b/c so far it's just internal guidance to executive

This is huge. The administration brings an “emergency motion“ to the Supreme Court to vacate the order that put the brakes on Trump’s executive order on mail-in voting. Court orders other side – 23 states – to respond by August 3. It’s really unfortunate that this will play out on shadow docket.

What I mean by saying Comey’s motion is unusual is that the threat allegations mainly turn on his intent. Normally you would say well if he actually intended to threaten the president, etc. etc. And he is asserting here that you don’t even have to think about here because it’s so obviously.BS.

We already know it’s a reprisal prosecution, so if Comey wins this motion that indictment doesn’t even state a true threat, it’s maximum embarrassment for the administration and Blanche.

Comey’s first motion to dismiss argues his picture of the 8647 shells configuration are just not a true threat, so that either the allegations don’t state a crime or, alternative theory, no reasonable juror could convict. An unusual motion, but well fitting the ridiculous allegations here.
