I had a strong conversion experience to a thoroughly demythologized Christianity, it confuses everyone

In the mainline we just feel awkward talking about it lol

I mean, I am about as non-evangelical as you can get both politically and theologically and I had a fairly textbook born again religious conversion experience (I had a vision, while reading scripture, I can tell you the moment of my conversion)

But nothing, just nothing, beats Cordelia, Aral, and Bothari in SHARDS and especially BARRAYAR. Astonishing relationships.

I am also very fond of Alys Vorpatril. And, side note, I have come to think a Piotr and Xav book would be awfully fun.

(To get back on topic, Aral is certainly better seen through Cordelia)

This is not Cordelia-specific but one of my favorite moments is when Mark, at his most dissociated, thinks of Aral: “you know, he is a killer like us.” Aral is not exactly good and that is fascinating.

I ADORE Cordelia, and the Cordelia/Bothari relationship, in particular, is I think the most interesting in the series. Although the character who I also find more interesting the more I reread is Aral. A complicated man.

I know the kind of books you’re thinking of (but also, my theology book has 700+ citations haha)

Personally I am all for a churchwide ban on eulogies at funeral services. (If you want to tell stories about how much you loved the deceased, that's great, HAVE A WAKE)
