Why should he move out? It’s his home. I didn’t have space to address this in my piece but it’s so frustrating. Your social home has to be your only residence as a clause of the tenancy, but if it is then a community that also includes tenants whose economic circs have radically improved is GOOD

Interesting list, and that is a pretty impressive figure. What year for? Notable that those are disciplines linked to specific training courses (medical, teaching, law etc) rather than ones relying on “soft skills” recruitment.

Oh, of course! Absolutely. Uni shouldn't be linked to employment IMO. People should be able to access education for its own benefit, independent of its links to future work/wealth.

I also get very cross when people said Blair was wrong to set a 50 per cent target. He was absolutely right. At that time Ireland was already sending 60 per cent of its kids into tier four education and we were below 40 per cent. Were we supposed to just sit back and slip behind on tier 4 skills?

I've never said too many go to uni? I've always been a huge advocate of widening participation and have worked on branding consultancy to support WP institutions. The funding of unis is a huge crisis, not the number of people going IMO.
