I'm currently building a syllabus and I refuse to design in-class activities/assignments that require students to have a laptop. Everything should be achievable offline/analog, or *at least* it should be specified when students will need to use tech.

I also find it really generative and interesting to disagree about art with my friends, but I think a lot of people take "I didn't think that was a very successful piece of art" as "people who liked it are rubes."
FTAudiences should approach art with skeptical enthusiasm. We should want it to be good. We should want our favorite artists to succeed. But we should also make it clear to them when they have not, *so that hopefully they make something better next time.*

One of my biggest pet peeves as a genre reader is when ppl say stuff like "the misogyny is terrible, but that's how it was at the time." Fantasy novels are mostly not set in human history!! There is no "at the time"!!! There are only author choices and some choose to depict worlds full of misogyny.
