Having enjoyed two of the stories that appear in this collection, I have the collection as a whole on my short TBR list.

“In a market saturated in novels, short fiction collections don’t always get the attention they deserve. MY DEAR HEART absolutely deserves yours.” @mondyboy74.bsky.social reviews Rachel Khong’s debut collection

Clarkesworld has been setting an example for other fiction mags for ages. How to hold an ethical stance. How to compete for the best writers. (They respond quickly and they keep increasing pay, their new target 15 c/word.) How to treat staff and readers. There's a reason they win so many awards.

Clarkesworld

Ultimately, we're hoping to add a few hundred new paid subscribers. That will let us complete the current cycle of pay increases, including a bump to 15 cents/word for fiction. Our target is October, but it is not the end. We'll be working on this until the pay rates are where they should be.

Same year, and while I could go with the same pick, let's throw in Al Capone for variety. (Prompt: GIF from favorite film from year you turned 18.)

Same sentiment exactly here. I've watched NOPE an absolutely bonkers number of times. One of my favorite films of the decade. Would like to see whatever is in store next.

I loved NOPE. It might be my fav Jordan Peele movie. It bums me out that his fourth film as a director is described as being in limbo.

Me to a duck on a neighbor's yard: "Who's a good duck? YOU are!" Duck enthusiasm level after this: unchanged. I remain undeterred. My experiments will continue.

I see your post about having too many books but buying more books, and I raise you: I feel like buying some more books from small presses because I'd love to have some more cool bookmarks.

I love a lot of adaptations, from the faithful to the Hollywood reskins. But if I have to pick a favorite, it isn't even really an adaptation so much as it's about stagings of Shakespeare's plays: the far-too-overlooked Canadian comedy series, Slings & Arrows.

On his birthday, what's your favourite film/TV adaptation of a #Shakespeare play ? I think mine might be the 1989 "Henry V" #filmsky it's a good mix of humour and passion and the battle scenes are brutally gripping.

This was tough. You'd think predictive text would be read without inflection, as though the voice doesn't quite know what it's going to say next or what it just said. But I hated that version. So I compromised and leaned a bit more into humanity.

Was in a meeting today with two backchannel chats going with other participants. My limited-track mind is not built for that kind of multitexting.
