The no. 1 most awful and true rule of art, is you gotta make bad art to make good art. And even when you're "technically" skilled, sometimes you'll still make "bad" art. (bad simply meaning you were not able to achieve technically what you wished to)

I'm actually terrified of people who are consistently doing page-a-week or god forbid multiple times a week

hey i've been a software engineer longer than an artist and it's totally true. I started out trying to make my myspace page look cool (yes i'm old and no it did not end up looking cool) and now i've been getting paid for the last 15 years+ to do computer stuff. just trying stuff is *the sauce*

with artfight almost over (i got 2 revenges I still wanna try and fit in 😰) i've been doing a bunch of planning for picking my comic back up... once i've got that rolling again, i think i want to finally fix up my patreon and post things more. maybe share sketches/early draft pages?

saw someone posting the other day "how long should i work on learning art before i try comics/manga/animation" and the answer is zero seconds. just fucking start making what you want to make even if it looks like shit, how do you think you learn to make it not look like shit? doing is learning. go!

message for new artists, old ones, literally anyone trying to figure out life: it's cool and good actually to try stuff even if you know you'll be bad at it. it's not cringe, it's cool as hell, and it's quite literally VERY GOOD for you. the only way to get experienced is to start inexperienced

Sin that must be eternally punished is a culturally Christian idea that you can and should reject. If someone admits wrongdoing and changes their behavior, that's the desired outcome. You don't continue to punish because you then signal there's no point to contrition at all, you're damned either way
