Serious answer: They claim the current political climate makes it impossible for them to go to a regular pub and drink, so they MUST have a private, taxpayer-funded pub inside Westminster. It's a bullshit answer, but it's the one given every time this is questioned.

BitsOr that they'd expect me to remember it. Sent a short story to a friend for feedback and got it. Downloaded it and opened it and it turned out he'd REWRITTEN IT HIMSELF! I was SO ANGRY... ...until I checked the file and realized I'd opened up my own first draft by mistake and didn't recognize it.
Thomas Hai think people advising that authors are going to be ok because they can explain their creative choices better than a slopper are coming from a good place (and prob mostly right!). but boy do i hate the presumption that writers have to rationally talk through the minutiae of their creative choices.
