Agencies are lagging on FOIA and resorting to extremes to close requests. The EPA even rejected our request for an email for being too broad. They relented when we objected to the absurdity of that claim. It shouldn't have come to that. More in @nytimes.com:

The House subpoena of @btnewsroom.bsky.social threatens press freedom. We strongly urge the House Ways and Means Committee to withdraw its subpoena against BreakThrough News and stop using congressional oversight as a tool to retaliate against independent media. Our statement:
The House Ways and Means Committee, led by Rep. Jason Smith, subpoenaed nonprofit @btnewsroom.bsky.social on July 21, seeking financial records in an effort to prove the news outlet, which has covered ICE raids and pro-Palestinian protests, is under foreign influence.
