Yep, when building our new house, Gas wasn't even on the table (and I have lived with Gas heat my entire life, and Gas cooking nearly half of it). Turns out, combustibles inside your house aren't ideal for respiratory health. Curious that.

New England, yeah. And we are really well insulated, but the temperature delta between outside and the setpoint in Winter is often 40-50F. In Summer, it's almost never over 20F. That's true of a lot of places. Doesn't help that Electricity is expensive in NE, and the winter solar offset is minor.

I have a top of the line ground source geothermal heat pump system. It still takes WAY more energy to heat my house in the winter than cool it in the summer. Worth the investment, but the point of the chart stands even with heat pumps.
