On your left.

Went to a friendly away to Bolton the other week. They play Thunderstruck before the teams come out, only it includes fake crowd noise. Felt a bit sorry for their fans at that point. And I'm an Everton fan.

If your sport is so dull that you need to pay people to lead the cheers for the teams, maybe you should look at the fundamentals of your sport instead of making teenage girls dance in revealing outfits.

Weird because I can VERY MUCH believe that Right Wing Labour hasn't rolled back Right Wing Labour's Right Wing Policy.

Caroline Lucas

I can’t believe these arrests are still happening - the new PM could end this utterly absurd proscription if he chose. As Jonathon Porritt says - trying to save lives is not terrorism. Exposing this government’s complicity in genocide is not terrorism

"Look, do you want us to take steps to stop the climate breakdown that's causing these heatwaves, or do you want shit AI embedded in every aspect of your life in order to increase corporations' private profits at public expense, hmm? Because you can't have both!"

Owen Jones

The UK has had rolling heatwaves. Nearly 3,000 are estimated to have been killed by them - so far. Half of England is in drought. Much of the south has had no significant rainfall for 33 days. And there's no sense of how serious this is - at all!! - from those in power?!

Realised yesterday that there will be no real pushback about this stuff because Universities are run by Managers now. As long as the line (their pay) in Power BI goes up, and they have the option for another cushy Management/consultant job, it's fine. Cost of everything, value of nothing, etc.

Charlotte Weatherill

Full of despair today. Massive lay offs in social sciences and humanities across the country, Burnham puts out a video saying 'AI can write an essay', and my university is busy integrating co-pilot into all staff and student computers. We are being told we're defunct and there's no resistance.

Was driving through Birmingham a couple of weeks ago and can confirm.

I drive all over the UK for work. Everywhere naturally has its good and bad drivers, but the Midlands is the only area where everyone goes about like they have a literal death wish. Still, if I lived somewhere like Coventry then I probably would too

This is how all of us should treat the far right.

Working Class History

#OtD 29 Jul 1962 fascist Oswald Mosley tried to march with the Union Movement in Manchester, UK. However, he was attacked by anti-fascists and had to be rescued by police. A Mosley speech later was drowned out by a crowd of anti-fascists. More info: www.patreon.com/posts/e37b-6...

I actually think that not only was there no problem with the image on the shirt, but the far right SHOULD be scared and shamed out of public life because of their words and actions. Let's repeat that success of 1945.

Zack Polanski will not say sorry to Farage for sharing ‘dangerous’ image

Evangelist Whitney Lynn says she preaches on planes because she loves “a captive audience.” She's not alone. It's becoming a trend. If spreading your message requires listeners who can't escape, maybe it's not as compelling as you think. www.friendlyatheist.com/p/christian-...

Management Brain falling for AI again.

Kirsty Grainger

Earlier this year UKRI launched a funding call to invest £40M in ONE AI lab. www.ukri.org/opportunity/... For some unknown reason they decided to fund TWO AI labs at the cost of £60M. An extra £20M. Just found. That's the equivalent of 7 more years of Jodrell Bank. www.ukri.org/news/ukri-la...

Labour are probably keen to recycle the parts back into warships.

Astronomer Royal for Scotland | Catherine Heymans

I'm absolutely devastated for colleagues at Jodrell Bank who found out this morning that funding for the UK's e-MERLIN radio telescope array will be terminated. This is a short-sighted move, to save a tiny fraction of the overall UK science budget. #SaveJodrellBank 🔭🧪 www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Paramount is celebrating Star Trek's 60th anniversary the same way it celebrated its 50th: by doing fuck all. Hard to decide which is worse: 2016 - had a film out but they couldn't be arsed acknowledging its existence 2026 - no film out or planned; couple of shows about to end with no more planned.

And you may ask yourself "How do I work this?" And you may ask yourself "Where are my ACME Rocket Skates?" And you may tell youself "This is not my ACME Bat Suit" And you may tell yourself "This is not my ACME Trebuchet"
