On my local trails there are signs saying no electric motors, period. Ebikers still do it, but the worst was a pair of hoverboarders going 30mph (wearing full face helmets) on trails meant for hikers, most with dogs. They crashed into each other once and scared the absolute shit out of my dog.

There is some of that during most fires, and we honestly don’t know yet (as far as I can tell). This really is the first time I’ve seen *so many* people pinpointing climate, certainly the first talking about data centers.

Me too. I know it’s like part of their project to undermine trust in government. But it’s just brutal to watch. Brutal.

To me this is a marked shift from thoughts and prayers, from we can’t talk about climate during an active event, to people really starting to grapple with the repeating pattern that we all know is completely unsustainable.

It’s similar to horse race political coverage; a lot gets lost in framing what’s happening to the Colorado as a competition. It’s honestly heartbreaking.

I really do think one piece of this that gets overlooked a lot, as you are maybe indicating here, is employer evangelism / mandated use. I think there is an increasing clash between folks who are able to avoid it for whatever reason and those who simply cannot.
