One of the myths of car ownership is that users fully pay for infrastructure costs. It’s only partially true, and in DC, it is not particularly true. Especially with the gas tax on the decline, it’s time to consider other options to sustainably fund the costs of building and maintaining our roads.

I’m new to this—can we get FIFA to suspend Belgium’s 4 goals?

060

If you lost your trust in FIFA in the last few days, rather than when they awarded the last World Cup to Qatar or when they awarded Trump with a grotesque peace prize, or when they decided to hike ticket prices to obscene levels….welcome to reality.

Trump take red card

I mean…this says it all, doesn’t it? I honestly cannot tell you who this man wants to be (apart from Mayor?) or what direction he wants to take the city.

Plans to “pedestrianize” 8th street by using the sidewalk as free parking are clearly coming along!

160

IMHO all of 4th street NE between T street and Michigan should be converted to curbside protected bike lanes, but this is a great down payment (along with a bunch of other sensible improvements for all users in this corner of Edgewood).

Has everyone who voted for this reckless moron had enough yet?

The price of oil jumped and stocks sank on Thursday after President Trump, in an address from the White House, said the war against Iran was “nearing completion” but failed to offer a concrete timeline and committed to more attacks. Here's the latest.

Turns out huge permitting delays at the hands of NPS—something we’re all familiar with in DC—played a big role in the potomac interceptor failure. www.washingtonpost.com/investigatio...

Shocker

Per the D.C. CFO, @mayorbowser.dc.gov's office did not meet a planned March 22 deadline to get his office the proposed 2027 budget for a 10-day review before it's made public. (It's known as the "pencils down" date.) As such, he says the budget won't get to the D.C. Council by April 1.

This should be a national embarrassment, especially for any American politician who calls themselves pro-family. www.nytimes.com/2021/10/06/u...

About damn time.

Wow—here's some info to spread around: MPD announces at this month's DC PAC meeting that starting soon, MPD will be enforcing the law regarding license plates that are obscured with plastic covers. It is an *arrestable offense* that will be fully enforced. *Any* covering. Not just a ticket—arrests.

Grateful for this single planter on the R street entrance to the MBT. Still dreaming of a DDOT that can take simple steps to protect residents without requiring 3 years of advocacy.

Pleasantly surprised that the court did the right thing. This was not a close call on the law, and Trump has wielded this power in exceptionally corrupt ways.

They must have been looking for the MBT.

Somehow a car wound up on the Metro tracks in the middle of I-66 just west of the Dunn Loring station. Orange Line trains are not operating between West Falls Church & Vienna. Metro says they’ll let us know when they have more information on how in the world this happened. #wmata
