Well... Armadillos are apparently moving into my state now so... might be able to side by side view them irl to confirm this information eventually-

It is but it's called a moisture absorber, not oxygen absorber so that part is... weird. Basically it keeps food from getting damp (especially things like noodle packets) from water vapor leaking in (as that happens sometimes) keeping it from molding.
