The focus is what the community makes it, so I don't know how he can cause this to happen unless he's got some bad ideas up his sleeve.

If "centrist" dems went after republicans with the same intensity they go after the DSA, we'd never lose an election again.

The DNC seems to believe that every voter automatically defaults to Republican and needs to be wooed over. The idea that a large portion of the country aligns naturally with (stated) dem goals and policies is something they can't seem to accept.

That's good and necessary, but they also need to be loud and assertive about it. Get this issue in front of people's faces. That's how the repubs escalated, say, the whole anti-trans thing. Quiet court actions are great, but there's a PR battle to wage as well.

It's not really about "socialism". It's about personal power within the party structure. The legacy dems feel threatened.

Adam Kinsinger had to deal with this and said so publicly. That took courage, but he's now free from their grip and a valuable voice against this regime. Cornyn and Tillis are not men of courage.

You'd think that trump withholding disaster money from dem states would be a much higher priority in their minds than pissing on Hasan Piker. But they're only interested in the Democratic Party as a vector for personal power.

The Pittsburgh model, which sells fans an "experience" where winning is only a secondary and incidental goal, has proven (frustratingly) viable over the years, but one does wonder how much longer it will last.

There's still goverment-subsidized facilities, merchandising money, and TV contracts even if fans stop showing up. Baseball teams are profitable. The pressures to attract income by delivering a quality product are nowhere near what they were. And that's why teams punt on races they're still in.

I've never understood why Bill Maher is regarded as some sort of progressive icon. Has there ever been any evidence of it?
