Shards also have names/titles associated with them. Talinos' full shard name is Talinos Karinos, Starshaper. Up to two shards may be present in any one world at a time; one aspected to Love, and one to Death. No Love-aspected shard has been found so far in the Source.

Shards of Gwyllith are currently aspected in one of two ways: Love, or Death. Talinos is aspected to Death, and his actions often reflect how death changes and transforms those that experience it, including himself.

Shards are created in existing bodies, preferably at conception, to discover the world they are in, learn as much as they can, and attempt to reconnect mentally with the main body, usually through feats of great strength and heroics. Hence why Talinos rarely refuses a call to adventure.

Nowadays, it can be ruthless in today's world. The only way I find solace is to join movements that actively struggle for a better future. Seeing news and updates that your actions made a difference felt by dozens, hundreds, or thousands of people gives a feeling of great accomplishment.
