i think the really beautiful irony of it is Alastor obviously cares about Vox in this AU more than other souls he’s gotten, keeps him safe and protected even let him keep his overlord powers, but all Vox sees is what he doesn’t have. Alastor has done everything in their contract, but Vox still yk

And then Vox’s precious influence starts to deteriorate again bc, shocker, selling soul = bad. Maybe Alastor starts insisting Vox can’t take risks for more power, can’t put himself in danger bc that reflects poorly on Alastor’s image if one of his soulbound gets thrashed. But hey, at least Vox won

I think the problem arises when Vox realizes after a while, shockingly, selling your soul is bad. Suddenly he finds he can’t upgrade himself (only Alastor’s own magic can fix him, and those magic threads show thru anything like a calling card, ”I belong to the Radio Demon”

Honestly I think in a funny way, Vox would count Alastor agreeing to literally take his soul as a win. Bc he got Alastor to do what he wanted. Might have cursed his soul into eternal damnation in the hands of a cannibalistic magical deer man, but a wins a win i guess

Think about it, fellas, Vox spent his entire human life selling himself to producers and fans and followers, his entire existence has been making himself something others desire, he could deff convince a guy to take his soul so their friendship doesn’t end, easy

Also if anyone’s wanting a vibe song that fits the vibe I imagine Best Bet has in my head perfectly, it’s All of Me by Frank Sinatra. Really just Simp the Song, but with a jazzy vaudeville big band aesthetic to it bc if nothing else, in any form, Vox is a showman and knows how to sell himself

and finally the green part is Vox being the freak that he is, and being a little too excited to tell Alastor about how great it’ll be for him to have Vox on his collar and chain, and Vox is super into it and Alastor is just there like 😐🫥 and the chain Swoops around the illustration to break it up

The yellow section (which will deff get a rehaul bc he’s facing too similar to the red section) is Vox laughing at himself and trying to make it a joke he asked Alastor be partners, the picture he’s ripped is THE picture, and it’s fluttering around the entire illustration in ripped pieces

The blue section in the corner is the sad moment, Alastor is leaving and Vox is having his dark screen moment before he’s like “Hold the fuck on,“ and tries to play it all cool and chill like a business transaction so he’s like “Let me offer you something else“ and then the musical sting starts

Lemme explain the vision. so the central red area is the end of the song when Vox slides on his knees for the big finale and looks up at Alastor panting from his big musical number and is like “Pwease oh pwease take my wittle soul pwease“ and it’s basically a marriage proposal

#wip On every level except being something I can actually listen to, Best Bet is a real song to me so I’m doing a kanomareki style collage cover for the nonexistent song about Vox convincing Alastor to take his soul in the #bartendervoxau after Alastor says no to being partners
