My post-dinner bike ride started with a few drops of summer rain. The smell was amazing. It ended with and absolute downpour and I got drenched for the first time in ages. And no, I didn't stop at either of the pubs, even though it's my Friday! #cycling #EastAnglia

Still 34⁰ in Paris at 21:30. I'm finding it harder and harder to see some friends' and acquaintances' posts of frequent flights. When will this addiction be cured and why does the link to a planet that is literally on fire continue to be ignored? #ClimateCrisis

Managed to sit in a carriage on a class 379 train that has working air-con. It's been a bit of a lottery recently. I'm not convinced that 3 years in storage helped these trains in that respect.

A lovely morning in East Angular: Train window view from the 07:42. Finished at 20:25 yesterday and starting at 09:23 today. No time for anything but sleep between shifts. Hoping for an uneventful standby shift today. Coffee needed first!

Something a bit different: We arrived on platform 4 (one of the through platforms) in Brussels with an e300 which is quite rare. The platforms are used by our e320 trains on Amsterdam services.

Yesterday started at sunrise with the 491 kilometre journey from Paris to London and ended with a 28 mile sunset bike ride around the Cambridgeshire countryside. Today, it's Brussels and back. 🇬🇧🚅🇪🇺

World Cup Final night in Paris. Memories of being here the night France won in '98 which was rather special. The atmosphere was incredible. No phone cameras then, so memories not photos. A fire engine passing with people on the roof, and a very sore throat the next morning from shouting so much.

I couldn't possibly comment on the score so far. But might do tomorrow when I see colleagues from the other side of the Tunnel. ⚽️
