I can't believe I missed this – I loved reading this story about a missionary in a strange land in our slush and I'm so glad it's out in the world (and even better)
Beneath Ceaseless Skies MagazineLive in BCS #459: "A Candle for Her Tireless Dead" @louisinglishall.bsky.social "Twelve years, imagining their empire in my mind. Confronting its demons and devising my own antidotes. Fashioning theodicies. Any tool to lead them from the hungry dark." www.beneath-ceaseless-skies.com/stories/a-ca...
I've been a fan of J.F. Gleeson since I read "The Age of Swirling Mists" in @bcsmagazine.bsky.social and this one is just as weird and wonderful. He excels at creating worlds that feel untethered and floaty and strange while having real heft to them

I know it’s tough to know where to put your dollars when it feels like all the zines are running their fundraisers at once. But consider throwing some cash at khōreō, who do incredible work and deserve to be recognized for it
Ignyte Award-Nominated Writer/Editor LP KindredJust a heads up! @khoreo.bsky.social is 5 days from the end of their kickstarter and the mag hasn't funded. L pointed out last month that if we want nice things, we have to communicate that via dollars. Let's retain this important magazine! khōréō Year 6 www.kickstarter.com/projects/kho...

ergot. This is what Charley does, when he’s not...alone with his endless numbers. He is Britain’s foremost naturalist of human desires. If your SFF criticism and analysis being taken seriously and rigorously edited sounds super fun and sexy for you (as it should!!!) then you should absolutely pitch ARB but you should ALSO pitch me at articles@strangehorizons.com. We pay!!
Jake Casella BrookinsBut editors are priceless; if you take your craft seriously you always need to be working at it, and *in theory* paying venues offer a higher level of editing, which is one of only a few ways I know to get better at this kind of writing.
I will be a Fortunate Fall booster till the day I die
Malda Marlys 🍉cameron reed's the fortunate fall is peak cyberpunk, gross and bleak and cynical and maximalist, and without spoiling anything has the guts to give the story the ending it needs. there's intrigue and conspiracy. toxic yuri. haven't read her new one yet but on tenterhooks
Things are going to get very, very weird in here
ergot.Tomorrow on ergot.: a seaside, numbers station puppet show with Anneke Schwob www.annekeschwob.info
I’m basically nobody, and I signed, so if you’re somebody - you should sign too
