I definitely heard that argument about Harris taking over for Biden. Which does not fill me with confidence.

I always assumed the Japanese constitution was better, because it was written by American officials. They could have just given Japan a version of the American constitution, but they wrote up a whole new one instead.

I think the solution to “bullshit jobs” as they were originally conceived wasn’t that we should all work in factories, it was more that we should all only work 20 hours a week and get paid double. At least that was how I interpreted the argument.

Exactly, there are degrees, so replacing a rep that supported Medicare for all with another rep that supports Medicare for all doesn’t seem like a big degree of difference.

I meant when Dems have control of the government again there are going to be Dems that support Israel no matter what and Dems willing to cut ties, and based on her record she was the latter. But it’s not like it’s bad she lost. It’s just doesn’t seem like that big a change to me .

I mean she refused to vote for aid to Israel until it was packaged for aid to Gaza. I’m not saying she’s the most anti Israel rep possible but odds are a rep like that would vote to cut support to Israel if that was where the party was going.

I mean it’s not that big and another way, and Degette was pretty old so it’s probably good to get a younger rep in there, but trading one progressive for another isn’t really going to change much in congress. Knocking out moderates is much more important.

Yeah it say it right there in the article. DeGette is a member of the congressional progressive caucus, so I don’t see what unseating her really accomplishes

Apparently DeGette supported Medicare for all and Palestinian rights, so I’m not sure how establishment really was.

Although conversely the New York primary results give me hope. It feels like voters want dems to fight and if they keep electing dems who want to fight, eventually the party will get the message. My dream is that AOC primaries Schumer and wins. I feel like that will be a real wake up call.

And the recent announcement of that childhood protection act makes me think there are still a lot of dems with their head in the sand.

I want to believe the democrats will fight if they take congress, and there are signs that the democrats are more willing to fight now. But if they do take congress it’ll only take one or two defections to ruin a blockade.

Mamdani’s response does sort of highlight the question of whether the establishment dems are being genuine in their praise, because you know Mamdani’s not.

I feel like he was pretty smart when he ran vox so I think he’s just performing the role he’s been assigned.

Man I really thought when Butegieg started talking about court reform there was some real movement on this in the party.

I want AOC to be president, but taking you out will be an acceptable consolation prize.

The one good thing about this bill announcement is it’s showing me who not to vote for in the 2028 primary.
