Thank you <3 Yeah, A LOT of people in Italy... let's say they don't things 10000% legally or find roundabout ways to make it slightly less disadvantageous to make ends meet 😅

It really is! It's one of the reasons why I had never planned to do this for a living while growing up in Italy. And in addition to this, the Italian market pays NOTHING for art or the average company pays 30-90 days AFTER the end of a project. I was only able to do it because of foreign clients.

not items. It's incredibly difficult to navigate even for accountants, especially because being an artist isn't common, so many accountants don't know how the rules work. I'd say most artists I know use a different tax system, which is less expensive BUT doesn't put money towards government pension.

You only get write offs if you earn more than 85k€ a year, but at that point I believe you also pay more taxes. We don't really have "artist income". There are HUNDREDS of categories, but there is no real "artist" one. I was a "graphic consultant". And you're only allowed to "sell your services" >

In Italy you don't get ANY deductions. It's all out of pocket. And if you want to sell online (like your own online shop), you need other permits, and recurring fees, similar to having a physical shop.

I've been living in the UK since 2020, so I pay taxes in the UK and I know how much better it is here. Being a freelancer in Italy is a real struggle. Like... really bad.

I also just checked and the average rent for a whole apartment in Florence is €1300-2000, depending on the area. So definitely more than 1k!

Oh yes, I wasn’t saying Paris doesn’t have tourists!! I know how busy it is! I think it’s a very similar experience all in all. Not knowing the numbers for Paris, I’d say this comparison feels accurate, as someone who has stayed in Paris for very short periods.

The avarege salary in Italy is €1250 or €1600-1800 if you have a decent job. So €1k apparments are not really affordable for locals. A lot of people share flats to be able to afford them, just like in London.

I think French & Italian freelancing regulations are pretty similar yes. And living in Florence or Rome is pretty similar to living in Paris, when it comes to expenses. Milan has a lot of services and things to offer, but it’s a business-city and VERY expensive. Most other places are under-serviced.

Not to mention that the cost of living in general is very high in Florence! Food, necessities etc etc. because of the constant sea of tourists (and it’s not accessible and TERRIBLY hot and humid in summer 🤣) I LOVE Florence, but it’s a tough place to live in!

Even as freelancer working for clients abroad it’s tough: there’s no work expense write offs (unless you earn more than 85k€), and after the first 5 years of freelance work, taxes are 40%. Tough to afford even a 1000€ monthly rent, unless you have a very stable income.

But in Florence you’ll earn way less than in London. As an Italian living in the UK, I assure you that even if renting/buying houses is cheaper, for people who work in Italy they are equally hard to afford. When I still lived in Rome, I stayed at my parents, to avoid losing all my money to rent.

I think I've finished it and I'm finally happy with the final result 👀 (Or I will have to be happy with it anyway, since I need to send it to print ASAP 😂)

I don't know HOW I managed to forget it, but the Caleb&Essek illustration featured in the cover for this catalogue will ALSO be available as a print at MCM Birmingham >___>''''''

This Sunday "The Witch's Trials" launches: my first appaerance in a AP campaign (and not just a one-shot or mini-series)! 🤩✨ Come meet our witches and their adventures in the fantastical world of Fey Earth!

Fey Earth

I am very excited to annouce a new Fey Earth series starting this Sunday 2nd August 21:00 CET. In The Witch's Trials a group of witches on a dark quest, facing numerous trials in the hopes that if they succeed they will reach the hut of the Baba Yaga to be taken as apprentices www.twitch.tv/feyearth

Thank you!!🙏🙏 it’s currently 80% complete, as I struggle with nailing down some parts, but I have work deadlines that I have to prioritise. Tomorrow I’ll check with my printer and see what their schedule look like and I’ll do my best to get it ready (I also want to have it ready to meet Deborah 😭🙏).
