I think it's called a bib. If you remove yourself from everyday conscious though, "bib" can come to seem a very weird word for anything.

Then bring in the people who don't know who that is, and we can have a big happy family.

Also my empathies for what you have to deal with, I think in those situations no matter how much you want to ignore or deflect it, you end up with a shit pile of all those people's harmful feelings.

Scapegoats get scaped for a reason, it helps divert all that energy away from where it could be going.

Like: why did Hitler get to shape public opinion and policy? Why didn't they screen him out for lack of kindness and empathy before everything got bad?

Question in response: Who, uh, gets to decide the "prerequisites" for whether someone gets to shape public opinion or policy? Hint: We don't actually live in a democracy, so it's not you and me.

What spurs anyone to develop such a motivation?
