Giving offbeat, obscure, forgotten, or just cool and interesting games the attention they deserve on my blog once a week. Also a contributor to Hardcore Gaming 101. He/Him http://ephemeralenigmas.com/

It was nice of them to let Opa-Opa work on the Genesis version of Golden Axe, I'm sure he appreciated the opportunity

This is going to be very cool when it's done! It's even going to have some words from yours truly in it, too ;)

New blog post time! This week's game is Ballistix, which is kinda like evocative fantasy ice hockey but if the Shadow of the Beast team made it and put in a whole lotta balls instead of a puck. It's also the only game that shares box art with both a novel and a Judas Priest album! #blog #gaming

BallistixIn places outside of its ideal environment- European homes where two people could play competitively- the box art ensures that Ballistix will always find a moment to pop into the conversation whene…ephemeralenigmascom.wordpress.com

Jude's first original skill in Wild Arms 4 is supposed to be called "Phantom Line", but the US release left out the P by mistake, leaving us with "hantom Line". You can actually fix this yourself since the game lets you rename original skills, but I find hantom Line too amusing to change

At the very beginning of Wild Arms 4, if you grab a wooden sword and swing at a training dummy 100 times, then break the sword after hitting that number (and only then), Jude will level up as a result of his hard work. This gives you a little head start before you've even done your first battle!

Hmm. That's a perfectly normal name for an institute. In fact, it sounds even less suspicious if I break it up into three words and say each one out loud! There's no way anything could go wrong at a place that pursues technological progress at all costs with a name like that!

For this #RandomGameSaturday, I have Frogger 2: Swampy's Revenge, the sequel to that incredibly successful Frogger game on the PS1. I assume this one is at least a bit more reasonable in its difficulty! I have no idea who Swampy is or how my copy got two huge cracks in the case, a proper mystery...

Finally checking out this little game called "Deltarune"... You may have heard of it

In Star Fox Adventures, if you get the ball and play fetch with Tricky, he'll change into several different colors after every 10 or so throws. If you do this a whole lot (like dozens of times), he'll eventually change into a color that more closely resembles his original Dinosaur Planet look!

The way these NPCs talk and then completely freeze up when they're done is making me laugh more than it probably should

New blog post time! This week's game is Nyorols, a mysterious MSX maze game from 1983 that approaches the genre in an unusual way. Instead of pure evasion, you rely on a combination of summoning clones and kicking your enemies, both of which have positive and negative consequences: #blog #gaming

NyorolsIt’s so rare that I have to think about how to play a game “correctly” (execution is usually the barrier over understanding with most games of this vintage) that I found Nyorols to be a fascinating…ephemeralenigmascom.wordpress.com

In EDF1, if you beat every mission on Inferno difficulty, you get the Devastator. This gun shoots an extremely slow projectile, but if it hits something, the explosion is so big it'll level buildings It's basically the Mooninites Quad Laser because the bullet is enormous and there is no escaping!

Very pleasant sound that definitely won't wake the neighbors up, thank you EDF

I think this is the coolest way I've killed a giant ant so far

For this #RandomGameSaturday, I have this water damaged copy of Knights Contract, the final game by Game Republic (Genji, Folklore). Between this and Neverdead, it's very weird that we got two games in two years about two protagonists who have to protect someone while being invincible themselves!

Do you think a Bunby Tank and a Blomby Car could be friends
