On my way to the ALP National conference to talk about Labor’s commitment to spend $368 billion on submarines. After scrambling to organise childcare because the state Labor government apparently can’t afford to pay teachers properly.

As usual, @mattduss.bsky.social brings the most radical ideas! Rules-based order but for real? What? Plus a great chat about what a more progressive US-Australia relationship might look like.

The Australia Institute

Rules-based order...but let's do it for real? "I want a world that's based on rules & not just the power of violence." @mattduss.bsky.social & @emmashortis.bsky.social discuss American power & progressive foreign policy on the latest episode of After America. 🎧 theaus.in/4vPI8dq

I once went to see Henry Kissinger speak at Yale. All of the senior people there were so genuinely, visibly shocked when there was a student protest calling him a war criminal. Seemed like the possibility hadn’t even occurred to them.

Sir, another graduation ceremony in which the students booed AI has dropped. "College graduates were pissed after their school used AI to announce graduates’ names and missed hundreds of names" (via @/FearedBuck on Twitter)
