I think the lack of 'authentic' accents, and contemporary dialogue help to make the story more accessible.

I've not seen enough people talking about John Leguizamo's incredible performance as Eumaeus in The Odyssey. He absolutely disappears into the role, so much so that I had no idea he was in the film until I saw his name in the credits. Best supporting actor Oscar on the way? #TheOdyssey
Paul DavidsonI saw The Odyssey this evening and thought it was excellent. Despite being a sprawling epic the story is remarkably easy to follow and not at all inaccessible to those, like me, unfamiliar with all the twists and turns. An ancient tale that still resonates. #TheOdyssey
I searched for 'history repeating' on the Bluesky GIF thingy and this was the second one that came up. It's not a good fit but I weirdly like it anyway. I can imagine this fellow schlepping his way to the front door in a huff to pick up yet another wrongly delivered Amazon parcel.
