Sometimes when I’m driving I’ll turn on sports talk radio and think about how amazing the format would be for cultural topics: commenters talking big and occasionally arguing about, like, the Booker Prize shortlist. I guess that’s just podcasts but I can’t think of too many podcasts like that.

Websites and news organizations used to have culture critics on staff whose entire job was writing about books, movies, and TV. People read them and then discussed them. We have the technology to do this again.
