Funny, I forgot so much of this! Still left with an impression of his dialogue quirks. Like often using this type of repetitive exchange between any two characters, no matter how well or ill-suited: “You dropped a building.” “Yes.” “On his head.” “Yes” “You dropped a building on his head.” “Yes.”

Forgive my asking, if you’ve said it elsewhere, but have you enjoyed Bendis’ Avengers? I had mixed feelings. Overall enjoyed the story beats, but Bendis has so many dialogue quirks that I found them distracting (or often frustrating). Ie, writing everyone as a quippy smart-@$$.

You bet, just took it as a perfectionist not happy with his work in the moment. Still grateful for the sketch and for his larger body of work, and it was very cool of him to decide not to charge (even though I would’ve still paid).

Amazing!! Over a decade ago, that artist got VERY peevish with me, lol. I asked for an omnibus sketch but he didn’t like the paper. I said no prob, signing would still be great. But he decided to try, wasn’t happy with it, & called my request foolish. But to be fair, I liked it & he didn’t charge.

Just watching from Canada, one thing that’s struck me with Trump 2.0 is this conscious choice to have some kind of evil or menacing aesthetic. Can’t think of anyone who captures it better than Bovino posing with his great coating or marching on US streets with his (often masked) “praetorian guard”.
