Reading through this thread about grocery shopping in the poor neighborhoods of New York City is exactly like reading through a thread of people commenting about a movie they've never seen.
Will StancilPolitics aside, do people believe city-run grocery stores with deeply discounted prices are a good POLICY idea? What are they intended to accomplish, in your view? What problem do they solve? Would you implement them if not running for election? I'm sincerely curious in people's answers here.
One reason that Rent Stabilization protections should be extended to all tenants is that it prohibits landlords from refusing to renew leases to tenants who have attempted to assert their rights. If you're not rent stabilized, that type of retaliation is perfectly legal.
