“I would never dream this would happen,” Brodnax said. “I thought I was in about the safest place – no earthquakes, no water – how could I possibly be in a dangerous fire situation? I’m in the middle of town.” www.spokesman.com/stories/2026...
When I started in tech, I feared being the stereotypical woman in the room forced to take notes for the group, so I avoided it. But as I advanced in my career I realized that agenda setting and note-taking were what turned meetings into decision-making sessions and not just group rants.
Tressie McMillan CottomI like this notetaking example. it is a good case of how gender works. Notetaking has never been about producing a transcript. It is a bureaucratic skill in the 20th c. organixarion because it is SENSEMAKING. Those women socialized to take notes? They have been doing men’s metacognition for them
For those in fire-prone areas in the US, especially the West Coast, I highly recommend installing the Watch Duty app, which is available for Android, iOS, and web. www.watchduty.org
I've been saying
Steve (TheSteve0) PoustyAs expected, the "escape" of the OpenAI agent was due to poor security practices by OpenAI not by some "super agent" www.wired.com/story/openai... It's like saying, "The fire exhibited super intelligence because it found a way around our one fireproof panel and then spread to the wood structure"
