Also, as we’ve interviewed a number of women who do work in the field, including Ellie Honan in our seminar who collected snow petrel poop in the arctic, who described the limitations of the cup/disc due to needing clean hands.

Yes, that is one of the advantages of the disc/cup, but many don’t or can’t wear them, including severa in the EDICa team. We’ve also seen in our own data an ick factor over menstrual blood more than normal blood which prevents take up of menstrual cup/disc.
