Field trials with transgenic plants are never simple. One of the requirements is that there can’t be any Brassicaceae within a 200 m radius of the trial site. And guess what are many weeds? Brassicas! 🚫🥦😅 We’re fortunate to have the facilities and support to make this research at @ulaval.ca 💪💛

🚨🪲🧬🦠 We have a new preprint out! Link: doi.org/10.64898/202... Insects and microbes are more connected than we realize. Some insects owe part of their ability to feed on plants to genes acquired from bacteria millions of years ago 🤯 See what we found about glycoside hydrolases in leafhoppers.
100% this!
Yasin DagdasIf I were an Early Career Researcher (#ECR) today, I wouldn’t join a lab that doesn’t #preprint (the PI agreed to keep paying me until my paper is finally published). It now takes ages to get papers through peer review, and without preprints you’re putting your future in someone else’s hands.

Early morning at CBC Québec AM talking about our exciting work on the diversity of leafhoppers in the Canadian Arctic 🦗❄️ Always a pleasure to share how biodiversity research helps us better understand our rapidly changing northern ecosystems. 📄 Research article: share.google/LsV9N9aFCcOa...

New preprint out! 🌱 Bravo @jiaxuwu.bsky.social ! 🎉 Here we used RenSeq to characterize the repertoire and allelic diversity of NLRs across five canola lines developed for clubroot-resistance breeding 🧬 Let’s make sense of the complex genetics behind clubroot resistance! 🔗 doi.org/10.64898/202...

Preprint alert! 🚨 Our chromosome-level genome assembly (and reference for the species) of the potato leafhopper Empoasca fabae is out! 🍃🧬 An important resource for the community to explore the biology of this fascinating migratory pest 🪲 Study here: doi.org/10.64898/202...
