America has been in a proxy war with Russia for almost five years because a bunch of Washington insiders can’t accept that Russia has security interests and was willing to defend them just like any other great power when those interests were threatened. Ukraine is their Cuba, you schmucks.

This is also why I don’t buy the idea that the war on Iran was about oil, because then the U.S. would have wanted Iran to be a politically stable dictatorship with a dependent dictator like Reza Pahlavi. The fact that they were floating a breakup of the country shows it was about Israeli hegemony.

Bingo. Even Iranian opponents of the IR regime will want Iran’s government (whomever that may be) to have a nuclear deterrent as an insurance policy against another war/attempted breakup of the country.

The sad reality is the the Democratic Party will only reprimand its members for bigotry if they belong to a sufficiently well-organized and influential demographic group. Hence they won’t stick up for the minorities that really need the help.

Very often, the interests of foreign nations are not in conflict with American interests. But sometimes those sets of interests will be in conflict. When they are, American political leaders should put America first. I don’t care if Trump appropriated that phrase, it’s just common sense.
