One week into SB 79 taking effect, and there are already over 200 new homes proposed in Palo Alto across 5 buildings. The last year in which Palo Alto permitted more than 200 new apartments was 2007. www.paloaltoonline.com/palo-alto/20...

According to the Contra Costa County Housing Element this ~40 foot wide strip of grass is going to become high density apartment housing by 2031.

Sprawl builders opposing infill development? It's not uncommon but usually it is more arcane than this.

(Lucilla at the end of Gladiator voice) there once was electric rail on this road. Make us believe it again

Although based on the experience of SP’s East Bay Electrics it’s unclear whether SP would have been able to get a rate increase from the California Railroad Commission subsequent to electrification of the Peninsula service.

Apparently new trend in Orinda/Moraga/Lafayette real estate is to make a home offer contingent on finding fire insurance for a reasonable price

Union City has shrunk the most of any >50k city in California since 2020 - I immediately checked on their Housing Element stats and it explains a lot! The city's own data dashboard doesn't even show completed projects, just permitted www.sfchronicle.com/bayarea/arti...

Probably worth doing a retrospective on the procurement and implementation process that ended up with MTC awarding a $500m contract in one swoop to the only company that bid on it (Cubic).

Azul Dahlstrom-Eckman

Frustration with Cubic bubbled over after the fare collection company revealed that a 27-hour outage that brought down BART’s ticket vending machines and fare gates last month was caused by the company failing to pay its AT&T bill. www.kqed.org/news/12085683

Today is Election Day. Thank you to everyone who did research into candidates policy positions, and the impact of ballot measures, and tried to figure out whether they would be good or bad for our region, our state and our country.

El Cerrito mini railroad must learn from the mistakes of the Fairyland jolly trolly - Electrified acceleration and deceleration - Level boarding - Clock face schedule - Grade separated crossings

Rebecca Saltzman

I just met with a group of El Cerrito elementary school students, who had lots of questions about the City Council and the City. Of course, many were about the library. At the end I asked them for ideas. My favorites: Build an El Cerrito zoo. Build a mini-railroad around an El Cerrito park. ❤️❤️❤️

Sort of crazy that CCTA is doing this at the same time as it has diesel buses idling at BART for 25-30 mins of a 45 minute round trip schedule, and built in 50 minutes of wait times to a 2 hour schedule

It’s not really a coincidence that Martinez’s downtown was built out in the 1800’s, before the automobile
