I would like to state for the record that I’ve never used an LLM for… anything. The closest I’ve come is seeing crappy Google AI results.

Hoping that Alexander Skarsgård starring in a movie as a Wicker Man who FUCKS will get the ol' timeline back on a positive track

As a purist, I do not consider any adaptation of The Odyssey to be authentic without a musical number by Tim Blake Nelson

This is a really big problem with any site that uses algorithms to weigh engagement. The most annoying people immediately figure out how to game the system so you spend most of your time wading through stupidity. This is a problem on Threads and TikTok.

Dr. SkySkull

(Which is -- mostly -- a joke. It is really annoying how much engagement bait there is on Threads. Like there are millions of people who "just moved to Charlotte" and billions of people who are now three months sober and trillions of people with ragebait takes.)

Sounds like a former Olympic canoeist might have a lawsuit to file

Ryan J. Reilly “paints a vivid and urgent portrait of… disarray”

Really amazing that, in the midst of a war on Iran that he started, Trump is... basically defending Iran.

Aaron Rupar

Q: Can you rule out that Iran is behind the water attacks? TRUMP: I don't think so. I think that Minnesota is behind it. You know who is behind it? Minnesota. Because they're grossly incompetent. I don't think there was an Iranian cyberattack. I think Minnesota ought to get its act together.

Watching the infamous "cobra attack" episode of #EmergencyTV. Protecting against a spitting cobra using a clear ashtray is pretty wild!

Ugh this week felt crappy

My take is that it is simply to direct blame for the US pandemic response towards a foreign Other. If people can be mad at Someone Else, they won't be mad at the government at home that showed incompetence and indifference. The finger point is the only objective.

The thing I can't really figure out about Lab Leak Theory is like... so what if it were true? Like is the idea that we could sue China for damages? That's not gonna work. It wouldn't really change anything both to how we responded to Covid and how we act going forward.

The Odyssey is surprisingly the first movie in ages where I didn’t take a bathroom break, considering it is three hours. But I heavily rationed my drink because I knew I would die if I tried to get up in an IMAX theater during the show.
