Actions speak much louder than polished campaign speeches. Stripping away hard-won rights, suppressing wage growth, and cutting thousands of jobs isn't "common sense" and it certainly isn't standing up for working people. #nzpol

Crown policy shifted from protecting Māori rights to rapidly acquiring land for settlers. Grey weakened iwi and hapū to force Māori into European legal and social systems. With no body left to defend Māori interests, grievances went unheard, helping fuel the New Zealand Land Wars of the 1860s #nzpol

When ACT opposes co-governance, targeted healthcare, or Māori council wards, they’re not removing identity from politics. They’re building a shared identity for voters who feel sidelined and casting the majority as under threat. Anti-identity politics is still majority identity politics. #nzpol

While 21st-century critics invoke MMP proportionality to claim that separate seats are redundant, the underlying objective remains identical to that in 1915: to neutralise the independent political leverage of Māori voters whenever it threatens mainstream establishment power. #nzpol

The neoliberal reforms of the 1980s and 1990s reshaped New Zealand. For many Māori communities, the impacts included higher unemployment, increased poverty, declining homeownership, widening health inequities, and the weakening of rural communities.
