and his wife loaded us up with cookies and cupcakes to take to the beach... Quite a lovely Sunday experience! 😍😍

I wish more Democrats would take note from his playbook... Instead of being borderline hostile to him

So sorry for your loss. These things are so hard. Take good care of yourself.

Yeah, once the rain came and went and the actual race started, the wind died down, and they were definitely slower than what we saw just before the rain started.

that's horrible... my heart goes out to them. They should have filed a complaint about that doctor. It's so unethical.

💯. I read Dr. Rizzi's bio (squished at the end of the news release after going on about the acting fire chief's accomplishments for seemingly hours), and she sounds simply amazing. But people are like, well, we do have qualified people here to... how dare a women CFA taking a job here ...

The actual release names all her degrees, see here News Release – Welcome Deryn Rizzi, Chief of HRFE | Halifax share.google/91sVWLfsphX0...

CTV didn't mention all the degrees she has aside from her experience... Wonder why...

That would make sense... I have never heard about this being an issue until I came here...

We have to push for accountability and reading approaches that work and that don't fail almost half our children. Reading is THE essential skill any elementary school should teach, so we need to get this right.

000

If your child struggles with reading, please ask your school what approach they are using... Chances are what you hear from them, and what this podcast is talking about are awfully familiar to your experience.

It will tell you why North America (also Nova Scotia!) has such low literacy rates, and how this came about. I have witnessed some of those struggles personally, and while we are starting to implement the Science of Reading in NS schools, we are not out of the woods yet.

I agree, this would be an incredibly useful project, and certainly eyeopening... Maybe I could find a student to take this on...

On a cautiously positive note, EECD has worked out guidelines for behaviour intervention supports to back up the Code of Conduct for just those situations. Looking good in principle. Training is underway. However, as usual, the question is how well staffed and supported these guidelines will be...

At this point, shared experiences are anecdotal, I hear things from different folks, but I don't believe there has been a concerted research effort, at least I have not heard about it

Yes, same here...But now that they're here, I can't get over how accommodating they have been. I mean. They are going door to door talking to every resident about their property, what they want and how, and which days and whatever else... Our road alone is so long with so many properties. Incredible

010

That's my thoughts exactly... We dealt with some very kind and caring people.
