Happy birthday 🥳

Truly hitting out of the park with ever episode

Because I didn't see you again after I started working on it! 😅 I will make sure to hunt you down for whatever silly question I come up with next year! But excellent answer - it also would be nice to compare and contrast M87* and SgrA* to see if the similarities we see with the ETH are skin-deep

010

Well, assuming that is possible - we definitely need more than just a change of material. Physics gets very complicated at those limits

020

Chris Lintott says the same about the galactic centre! And interesting stuff about life, we just need to find a suitable world for the experiment!

010

Somewhere and somewhen but astronomically speaking

100

Oooh! That would be stunning 🤩

020

So you should be able to see what's ahead of you, though it would look pretty weird. Now, changing momentum requires energy so even a realistic spacecraft moving so fast might prefer plotting a course rather than avoid obstacles

140

Basically, due to your motion, light in front of you becomes brighter and pushed towards shorter wavelengths, and you get a bit of tunnel vision as the light coming from the side shifts towards the direction of motion.

140

No such thing as a stupid question, and that one is very much the opposite! Ok, in a realistic scenario (my question was not one), a traveler approaching the speed of light would have a very different view of the universe.

120

I hope you shouted: “your radio telescope can’t hold me!!”

140

🤣🤣🤣 you made me properly cackle. A colonoscopy would certainly an original proposal, but in musk’s case his head already is firmly in there, so there’s not much room for manoeuvre

Thank you (in no particular order) to @astroroyalscot.bsky.social, @vrooje.net, @chrislintott.bsky.social, @drbecky.bsky.social, @royalastrosoc.bsky.social and many more for indulging me! 🫶🏻⭐️

Doubly so for the gay press.

2120

You put forward two of my special interest so you activated me like a gay sleeper agent 🤣🤣

010

These are gorgeous! 😍 The colours look like what Cyclops would wear! 😅
