The length of time I spend trying to write and accurately phrase a post on Bluesky is shockingly out of proportion to the number of skeets I actually post.

Booksky, I know the adage is “don’t judge a book by its cover” (advice I routinely ignore) but how often do you choose a book solely on its title? I know I do it all the time, especially scrolling Libby’s available now list. What is a book that you chose just based on it having the perfect title? 📚

It’s happened! 1st grader a bit of a reluctant reader at home. Then he randomly stated he’s reading Dog Man bks at school. Complete surprise. Then asked to get a DM book at the bookstore. Then one at the book fair. And then this morning asked if he could bring one of his DM books to school. Um Yes!

My teen this week: Ugh. Im so tired of seeing Zyn ads on YouTube Me: Really? I never see them … Ohhhh. You’re their target market. He has no social media accounts and watches YT not signed in. So they just figured he’s a teen or young adult male from his algo? Gross Anyone tracking these ads?

Among a few New Orleans history pieces I have is this souvenir Hadacol bottle, engraved and given to my husbands grandfather. I had never heard of Hadacol prior but apparently it was a cure-all tonic popular for having a 12% alcohol content and was sold by a LA state senator. Go figure.

Libby is really stepping up their book rec software. I didn’t know it did this. I chose a book that “amuses” and got these options. Any guesses of which book each is describing?

In my current rewatch of Derry Girls I am struck by the way the teens go about the trials & joys of being a teen with the backdrop of the Troubles. As a parent of a teen, the cuts between the teens’ antics and the real life news footage being watched by the parents feels so relatable these days.

The snow today had the most snowflake looking flakes I’ve ever seen! We kept stopping to look at them on our clothes and hair. ❄️ Now all those paper snowflake cutouts I made as a kid make sense.

Nolasky I also have this unlabeled photo of a group of children and a nun (so some catholic school). The back of the photo is on the right and I (think) indicates it’s from between 1904 and 1918. I’m assuming New Orleans. Any history detectives recognize it? Also that nun looks intense.
