1/ a chilling, short (100 page) book about an England where nameless authorities & their thugs (the "they" from the title) enforce ever-changing cultural rules, & round up or kill people deemed undesirable-- while many ppl ignore the violence, & accept the new rules as they lead their daily lives

i was a readers encyclopedia kid, myself. I loved flipping to random pages and learning about books and mythological creatures and famous writers
S. KramerWere you a child who read The World Book Encyclopedia for fun?
beloved west coast zine distro stalwart Antiquated Future is in financial straits. please consider supporting them! www.antiquatedfuture.com
Antiquated Futurewww.antiquatedfuture.comit's amazing to me that the legendary bastion of Boston 80s/90s weirdness that was the Allston Mall... is represented in wikipedia with this backrooms-esque photo i mean, this place gave birth to Quimby's, among many other things @quimbysbookstore.bsky.social en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_All...

one of my jobs at work is to help ppl with low tech skills fill out forms it makes me angry that so many ppl who are already disenfranchised--many don't have www accees, or devices--are expected to navigate these complicated online forms to get the few things society has decided to give them
Probable CawsWhen I was in law school, I spent a quarter in our schools Poverty Law Clinic, and one of the things that quickly became obvious is that many people can't access benefits because they don't have time to jump through the hoops necessary to do so.
and of course one of the best things about zine making is you can start with 12 or 20 copies-- and if you find you need more, the printer or photocopier is probably still there
Nino CipriApproach zine making the same way that you made blog posts 10 years ago. Do you have an opinion that maybe 8 friends and like 3 strangers might be interested in? An answer to a question that's infrequently asked? A rant you could turn into a tight 5? that's zine material right there, buds
