god, honestly!! some posts really have a "should've been a DM" energy or like, at least a reply to a mod post. when people complain in public like that it really feels more like complaining for the sake of complaining instead of wanting things to actually change and that really sucks ngl

anyway, i might delete this later. i've been just having a lot of thoughts about what i spend my time on considering how much less time and energy i have in general. when i think about the things people have said to and assumed about me just because i mod it makes me go. why do i do this to myself 🥲

my guess is that lin is going to continue to sexualize these two and felix is going to continue to fall (willingly) victim to sylvain's slutty mouth (is slip even answering the correct question-- 🤣) 👏👏👏 thank you for everything u do for sylvix nation 😌

like, a person running a fanzine/event (usually) won't have the same impact as the CEO of a multinational company but dang. the scrutiny and amount of judgment that i've seen folks in fandom subjected to is nothing close to whatever big corp had to deal with, to say the least of it

mostly thinking about this again due to recent posts i've seen, as well as some things that have happened in the past. one thing a lot of the "callout" posts had in common was painting mods as someone in a "position of power" and while it's not entirely incorrect, the scale felt wrong so to speak

not saying that mods should be given a free pass for bad behavior, but i think ppl should give more grace to their fellow fans especially when there's conflict. a lot of the time, it's never from a place of malice and doesn't necessitate the sheer amount of vitriol i see targeted that person's way

can we get a reward for the right guess 🥹

for me it's just like... if they were already gonna animate it, why not go all the way 😂😂 but ya i feel like they are a bit distracting as they are now... we'll probably get used to it but it's rly an interesting choice for sure

yeah... i think a lot of these people don't mean to cheat anyone but the behavior is definitely borderline like. there's grounds to call it a scam if you really wanted to. i feel you though, usually i want to think that these ppl just suck at comms and lack a sense of urgency/work ethics

i don't understand people who decide to take money for a service and don't deliver on promises. like yes they may not be big corp and are busy but they still!! accepted money!! for their services!! it's the principle of the matter really more than anything 😭

also for all i love having physical books (my main motivation for modding projects) i do think ppl should make more diy zines. like when ppl say anyone can make a zine it's not, idk, get a slipshod team together & hope for good POs. no. literally all you need is a piece of paper u can fold into 8!!

one thing i rly found fun about running dmlx masq was how the anon/guessing phase of the event served as something of an "equalizer" for all participants. normally ppl will gravitate towards familiar creators so it was nice seeing ppl engaging with smth unfamiliar and maybe finding a new fave

i also feel like i mighta unintentionally alienated some ppl who i rejected from my projects so yeah, it's not that great for community building unless u accept everyone. i rly hate the app process for this reason but it is what it is for the curated sort of project 🥲

LMAO YEAH literally no one remembers who mods what unless things go super south. i've had someone come up to me and comment "wow u sure have written for a lot of (dmlx) zines" WELL I HOPE SO considering i ran most of those projects 😂 there rly is no clout to be gained from running things smoothly
