Important to note that Bev Craig, the new Mayor of Greater Manchester, won her overwhelming victory on a platform of trans inclusion, as an out lesbian. A stark reminder to the GC crowd that a) transphobia is a losing policy, and b) the vast majority of lesbians support trans inclusion.

I've always liked Argos, and we still use it fairly regularly. I always thought integrating it into Sainsbury's shops was a terrible idea, but weirdly this story doesn't even mention the fact that (presumably) it now needs to be extracted from Sainsbury's shops again. Seems ... expensive!

Looks like the first round results for the Manchester mayoral by-election are due soonish. Turnout is 25%, which is the lowest ever, but there has never been a big turnout in these elections - the highest was 34% in 2021, and in 2024 it dropped to 32%. BBC coverage could not sound less interested.
Oh look, JK Rowling's chequebook-waving has emboldened the ADF, a Christofascist hate group that has been pouring millions into the UK to fund court cases and lobbying against abortion rights, equal marriage rights, Pride events etc., to go on the attack as well. Top standing up for women, Joanne!
This is what it looks like when a charity which has correctly pointed out that "gender critical" organisations are anti-rights is faced with a litigation threat from those anti-rights groups backed by the bottomless pockets of an anti-rights millionaire in a legal system which says the richest wins.
