Because the stats programs use very specific methods to run those analyses. Its a methods thing, not listing our software thing. What program you write your MS in will not effect outcomes of the study.

In my experience, its more of a stats thing than a software thing. For example, I have cited the version of JMP I used to do certain stats in the past because it was specifically requested by reviewers/editors.
