I don't think there's any company that's worse at handling multiple accounts (like private and work) than Microsoft. They "single sign on" system is so bad that I need to use two different browsers... and even with that regularly authentication fails in some redirect loop😭

So the next step after OSDK 2.0 is to get the VS Code debugger extension out... but while doing the video I found so many frustrating things that I'm now doing a serious pass of UI fixing.

Yup, that was also a perfect use case for snapshots: Reload the situation before the problem was detected as many times you want, and try to find if the problem always happens, or if it's just in specific case, nail down the cause.

It was all just a missing CLEAR_SKIP_POINT() instruction, and that two years old bug is now fixed. Pfiuuu... I guess the MCP was worth it!

And that was the bug: The player can skip the intro sequence by press space at the very start of the game, but the "skip point" is only reset if it's used, so letting the intro go through does not clear the reset point... so by pressing space we ended up running the skip script⤵️

So I asked what the difference was, it said that "this time I just let it run because based on the script there's no point pressing space to skip the message". I asked it to redo exactly what it did the first time, and the difference was it pressing space during a message.⤵️

Since Claude was still on the commands of the debugger it confirmed that there was a discrepancy between where the game said we were, and what it showed based on internal memory/variables. I reloaded a snapshot and asked Claude to reproduce the bug. This time it worked.⤵️

So I recorded the video for the new Oric debugging system, and at the end I demonstrated the MCP system with Claude playing Encounter... and it triggered one of the game over endings... except instead of the credits it ended up on the Market place... an old bug I failed to fix.⤵️

Nothing like writing a description of how to use a system, follow your own description to implement something from scratch like a normal user would... and find out it does not work (because you forgot something in the description). 💀 Oops 😅

Well, time to make the video to present the new OSDK debugging system. A script is needed else I'm probably going to forget one of the many many new features! 😅

So I got the old miniserve out of retirement, and the forum is now running on it (this time through cloudflare). Not the best hardware, but hopefully it will be good enough!

Oh it's definitely for pure technical regressions, basically to validate that the latest changes did not crash the game because of memory usage, memory stomping, infinite loops, missing or corrupted disk assets, etc... not to validate that the game feels good or looks nice!
