“Peter Parker’s day job is science teacher” was pretty solid, IMO. Some people just can’t handwave away the web shooters and web fluid invented by a sixteen year old. It breaks them.

I used to work in a photo lab and the one time I called the police was because there were photos of a naked child on the toilet with multiple bruises and like, why would you take that to a one hour photolab where you hand your film to and receive photos from an actual person? Why… everything?

This. I don’t think of it as torque really but yeah the force is angled incorrectly. Very precise scissors work better in the offhand because they have less play, and certain “ergonomic” designs exist because the manufacturers want to see us tearing sexy photos from the newspaper like mad animals.

This should be so obvious that nobody would ever offer those bets in the first place. This prediction market crap is too Torment-Nexus-coded for science fiction writers to have even predicted it.

Season 5 had to jam, and I don’t think that plays to the show’s strengths. It’s more of a focused composition than a freewheeling collaboration. Not to say they didn’t have to change plans for earlier seasons, they did and they nailed it more often than not, but the goal was clear and predefined.

Season 1, even at its low points, is still building a great, four-season-long story. Season 5 certainly has aspects that work better because a lot of things were just more practiced now, but what it really lacks to me is that intentionality of committed focus on a complex storyline.

All of these versions are valid without really needing to get into the messy details of various interviews or conversations about the production, and without dragging our claws through creators’ personal lives. Toss all that out, viewers either enjoy it or they don’t.

I’ve never even heard the story about the hotel notes, and I’m not too worried either way. In my opinion, the best way to watch the series is to stop at season 4’s finale, but some people think S5 is good enough to recommend and some people say it’s worth skipping ahead to just the last ep of S5.
