That’s the best sort although don’t try it with squashes and courgettes. Hybrids can be really bitter or even toxic.

I love the smell. Despite huge tomatillo plants I’ve no fruit on them though. Only found out this week they don’t self-pollinate, and my tomatillos are at either end of the garden. Been fluffing them with a paint brush to try and get them a bit more jiggy.

TB was rife in depression era Germany, where poor and cramped living conditions and inadequate nutrition meant that infection rates were high

Both paintings portray the woman as being very thin & there’s something odd about her fingers. Her fingernails in both the portraits are clubbed (curved and broad, tending to cover the whole of the top of the finger tip) a sign of low oxygen, a very common cause of which is pulmonary tuberculosis.

I’ve looked for Goodies episodes on youtube a few years ago but couldn’t find a thing. I expect that’s changed today.

Two paintings by different artists, almost certainly of the same woman & produced during the same sitting in 1930. The first is by Weimar era artist Rudolf Bergander. The second was only relatively recently discovered and restored & has been attributed to Kurt Eichler a student of Otto Dix.
