Trump and the US government broke an agreement with Canada on the building of a bridge. Why expect more from a larger agreement like CUSMA? Canadians now expect that any trade agreement signed with the US will be largely fictional in practice.

Looking at our own democratic imperfections and the recent history of democratic backsliding, no sensible person would advocate for anything but *deepening* our democratic institutions. It's morally wrong and strategically incompetent to advocate for anything else.

We ought to reject and denounce ideas from technocrats and plutocrats who'd destroy our democracy.

The essence of electoral democracy is equality. Whenever equality is compromised (e.g. big money, gerrymandering, unequal district population distribution), democracy is compromised, distrust grows, and political rights are undermined. The risk is real.
