Podcasts are an important part of the media ecosystem but woefully understudied. A year ago @blitt.bsky.social, @dallascard.bsky.social and I put out SPoRC, a new dataset of 1.1M podcast episodes. Today at #IC2S2, Dallas and I led a tutorial for how you can work with SPoRC and collect your own data!

Peer review was one of the most-discussed topics at #ACL2026 . Many folks were concerned about the incredible growth in the number of ARR submissions (17K for the May26 ARR cycle 😱), and even more shocked that ~40% didn't have any authors qualified to review. What is going on?? I did some digging...

Conference growth is crazy. The increase in CVPR submissions from 2025 to 2026 is roughly the same as the growth in 2026 alone from ACL (Oct+Jan) to EMNLP (May)

I'm on a new committee reviewing ARR's Responsible NLP Checklist and looking to potentially make changes. I'd love to hear others' thoughts on what is working well or needs revised, especially given it might be fresh in memory from the recent ARR cycle. 1/

I've been thinking a lot about what is Information Science and what a bachelors degree (BSI) should look like in the future. The substance of information science—how people seek information, how systems present it, how access changes behavior, the ethics of all of it—has never been more relevant.
