Part of the problem - not all of it but part - is the division of powers between different levels of government. The levels of government with the upstream solutions (health, education, housing, poverty, income distribution, etc) aren't the level that is left to deal with the downstream outcomes.

The right wing has become completely unhinged, and should not be anywhere near the reins of political power.

BC Hydro does the projection of power needs and procurement calls for power. Should have foreseen the need for economy-wide electrification as key climate action. However the government of the day also has the option to introduce legislation, make investments, etc

Bending this curve down is the goal. Renewable energy helps, but isn't the goal, and isn't the only mechanism.

Producing more clean electricity does not reduce GHG emissions. Reducing the burning of polluting fossil fuels does. This chart shows stasis, not progress.

It's going to have to go well beyond Victoria residents and City leadership. We all need to do our part, but this is also provincial and federal and police.

It's factual, and facts are important in order to find real solutions. If conversations revolve around incorrect assertions, everyone ends up wasting time and effort on red herrings.

Hard to believe that needs to be said. But there are a few people out there who seem to be genuinely unaware. They have been duped by unscrupulous people who are lying to them.

You're right, road damage increases exponentially with vehicle weight.

I would just add that the repair work we are doing now is *more expensive* than it would have been to maintain it properly in the first place. Taxpayers 10-30 years ago pocketed the savings, and taxpayers today and in the future are paying the cost.

Yes, and that last clause should make everyone very nervous.
