#rstats My take: rownames(df) was the original mechanism for labeling obs. All base R knew this, so plot(lm(y~x, data=df)) did the right thing (outliers, influence plot) for obs. deserving to be noticed. tidyverse changed that, perhaps rightly so, but the auto-labeling aspect was largely lost.
Mid terms are November 3rd 2026. Go register voters.so anyone use the rownames attribute often in #rstats? curious if there are any advantages or conveniences that this attribute brings?
A recent post on the `gt` #rstats package helped me tweak the handling of multi-column stubs in color_table() in the {vcdExtra} package. Only on friendly.r-universe.dev for now. Before After
Strong claim here: "Ordinal models are virtually as efficient as parametric ones even when parametric model assumptions are met" What's not to like?: "In a CPM there are as many intercepts as there are distinct y-values, less one. " This deserves some serious study 👍
Frank HarrellAnother new blog article, elaborating on ordinal regression within the cumulative probability model family. One general model contains an amazing array of special cases used all the time. Do we need to keep teaching special cases&assuming so much? www.fharrell.com/post/cpm/ #Statistics #StatsSky

New #rstats #quarto #dataviz blog post: how do you keep ~670 R code chunks in a book under control? I parsed my book's .qmd files as data to find chunks too wide, shouldn't be shown, or not earning their keep. ➡️Mind Your Chunks friendly.github.io/blog/posts/2... Part of Making of Vis-MLM series

Juuso Koponen📊 My and @jhilden.bsky.social’s book has been out of print for some time, as our publisher closed down its general publishing arm. We are working on a 2nd edition, but it is not going to be ready anytime soon, so we’re making the current edition available as an e-book for €9.90. payhip.com/b/zbl43
Looks interesting, but it doesn't beat the recordings of the depth of the Nile, Minia/Rawdah Nilometer records (A.D. 622–1921)
